Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs
The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) was established as a non-profit agency on July 1, 1994. CAAHEP accredits programs representing 18 allied health professions recognizing over 1900 allied health education programs in more than 1300 institutions. These institutions include universities and colleges, academic health centers, junior and community colleges, hospitals, clinics, blood banks, vocational-technical schools, proprietary institutions, and government institutions and agencies.

  Medical Laboratory Technology
Medical Laboratory Technology Program
The Medical Laboratory Technology Associate Degree Program at Hartnell College in Salinas, California is designed to prepare students to become members of the health care team which provides clinical information for disease prevention, medical diagnosis, and treatment of the patient by processing specimens and performing laboratory tests. This degree prepares students for immediate entry into a technician-level position in a clinical laboratory environment. The Medical Laboratory Technology program integrates traditional classroom instruction with newly developed distance education courses and clinical practica in order to comprehensively and systematically enable the student to achieve mastery of the competencies required in this occupation.

Welcome Back Center Overview
Many immigrants to the United States are health professionals in the their country of origin. For a variety of reasons, they may not be functioning in that capacity in this country. Viewing this group as an untapped talent pool of medical providers, the RHORC's and the California Endowment have developed a comprehensive service program to assist these internationally educated health care workers to enter the US health care workforce.

Economic and Workforce Development
The Economic Development Program (EDP) was established in 1991, and in 1996 economic development became one of the primary missions of the California Community Colleges. The purpose of the Program is to advance the state's economic growth and global competitiveness through education, training, and services that contribute to continuous workforce improvement. The role of the community colleges in this effort is to fulfill the vocational education and instructional needs of California business and industry through leadership, communication, and liaisons with the private sector as well as with public sector education and training providers. The California Community Colleges work with employers, advisory committees, and agency partners to identify, on a region-by-region basis, workforce education and training needs, including the needs of small business. Colleges have created a network of service providers that meet identified needs in a most cost-effective and timely manner.

Beyond the Administrative Core: Creating Web-based Student Services for Online Learners is a Learning Anytime Anywhere Partnerships (LAAP) project, funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education. It is a three-year project (January 2000 to December 2002) involving three institutional partners, Kansas State University, Kapi'olani Community College and Regis University and one corporate partner, SCT.
